China, Yunnan province
During the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) trader's on horseback delivered tea from China's Yunnan province to the 3 emperors of the mountain Kingdom of Tibet. By journey's end this tea, often referred to as Emperor Pu-erh, would take on the character of the caravan trail, like fine wine aged in a cask. This Pu-erh offers rich notes of earth, malt and a sweetness from the aging process. Still maturing at this stage, it shows great promise with age. A truly stunning tea. The antioxidant level is medium. The caffeine level is high.
Bring water to a boil. 1 tsp per 6 oz cup. Infuse for 3 - 5 minutes. Multiple infusions possible.
